Bandeja Padel Arena
An existing hangar in Ancol turned into a padel arena — mid-span columns removed and their load transferred into new steel trusses.
This work came out of a need to adapt an existing warehouse/hangar building into a modern sports facility that is both attractive and safe. In strategic partnership with PT Griya Maju Sentosa, the Bandeja Padel Arena project focused on auditing the fitness of the steel structure and formulating innovative structural strengthening to meet the demands of an optimal padel court layout.
In the busy Ancol area, this multi-gable warehouse was converted into an international-standard padel arena, which requires a generous, obstruction-free playing area — a clear-span zone. Several existing columns cut across the padel court lines, which was the main technical obstacle: it meant engineering the removal of columns without compromising the stability of the building as a whole.
The structural solution transferred the roof and purlin loads previously carried by the central columns into a new steel truss design (cremona / transfer truss). Every force interaction — bending moment, axial stress, allowable deflection — was simulated precisely using an ETABS computational model and modelled in BIM Revit, producing a structural modification blueprint that is sound, efficient and safe to execute on site.
