An urban family home in Bali planned open and unhurried — terracotta walls, timber, and afternoon light let all the way through.
Daniel House was designed as an answer to a need for privacy, comfort and somewhere to pause inside the home. The interior architecture leans on simplicity, giving the people who live there the freedom to be together naturally in space that is generous and secure.
The house sits in a busy urban setting, where afternoon sunlight and the need for multifunctional space became the basis of the plan. Kitchen, dining and lounge are designed to flow into one another (open-plan), keeping the house from feeling tight while getting the most out of air movement and daylight in every corner.
Materials centre on high-quality timber and earth tones on the terracotta walls, giving the rooms an elegant, unfashionable-in-a-good-way calm. Timber lattice on the kitchen island and large glazed windows filter daylight where it matters, sharpening the relationship between the warm interior and the landscape outside.
