Kubu Padi Foundation Hall
A three-storey building holding offices and an assembly hall, with Revit and ETABS kept in sync to size the sections and the rebar.
The structural project for the Kubu Padi Foundation's assembly building was designed to guarantee the strength, stiffness and stability of a three-storey building that combines office and assembly-hall functions. The work focused on structural load analysis (dead, live and seismic load), determining the section dimensions of the concrete elements, and calculating the estimated rebar schedule.
Standing in the Kubu Padi area surrounded by green tree cover, this three-storey building brings together the foundation's offices, communal meeting space, and open balconies around its facade. The distribution of live load from mass assembly activity was analysed in depth in order to design slab and secondary beam reinforcement able to damp vibration and deflection well.
The 3D structural model in Revit was synchronised directly with the finite element analysis model in ETABS to verify the section capacity of the beams (magenta/yellow) and columns (blue/grey). The result is an accurate estimate of the concrete and reinforcing steel required, which is what makes the building stand solidly, safely and efficiently once it is being built.
