A shophouse in Palembang turned into a store and office with real character, through a monochrome facade facelift.
The challenge was to create a strong, iconic identity in a row of shophouses that generally all look the same — without rebuilding the underlying structure.
We answered it with a modern minimalist facade facelift in a monochrome palette: a clean white secondary skin with curved corner detailing wrapping the main store area, becoming the right focal point for signage and an elegant contrast to the shophouse next door. Combined with wide glazing at ground level, the result is a premium, inviting new face, a long way from the rigidity of a conventional ruko.
